CURRENT EVENTS

This week I read an article called Planning for Mars.

This article is about President Obama‘s speech on space and space flights. This speech happened in NASA’s Kennedy Space Center near Orlando, Florida. Obama’s speech was important because he said that there will be no more flights to the Moon. The  last flight to the Moon was in 1972. Instead of that Obama wants NASA to fly to an asteroid in 2025 and in 2030 they will be flying to Mars.

He also said NASA will get $6 billion over the next five years. He wants to include private companies into this operation.

Some people agree with Obama while others think it is too risky

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS

·         Positive  effect: Scientists can learn more about space beyond the Moon

·         Negative effect: it can create a lot of debate over who should have the right to fly to space
