There are a lot of mineral deposits in Serbia and one of them is Copper ore. Copper ore is mined by blasting underground, scooping up by front-end loaders, taking in large trucks to underground crushers, then hoisting to the surface in skips up one of the shafts. At the surface, the ore is crushed further, mixed with water and other special chemicals to remove the waste rock and float the copper ore so it can be skimmed off, then heated and treated in other ways to purify the copper and separate it from any other metals. Copper ore in Serbia is mostly mined in Majdanpek and the Copper ore mined is of lower grade. There is some higher grade Copper ore left in Bor but ts is almost completely gone
It is mined by Copper Mining and Smelting Complex Bor located on location in Majdanpek and Bor. It is then sold to Valjaonica Bakra Sevojno which purifies copper for Serbia and export to other countries too.
The mining of copper ore is important in Serbia as it creates a great part of the countries income.
